Ultrasound-magnetic field coaxial hybrid Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (U-M-GTAW) is proposed to control the arc characteristics. Arc characteristics and its changing mechanism in ultrasound - magnetic field coaxial hybrid GTAW were studied by experimental and theoretical analyses. Compared with the GTAW, M-GTAW and U-GTAW, the most obvious compression of arc shape in the U-M-GTAW was obtained.
